Guest accommodation

Our home and guest accommodation is right next to the polo school and its facilities. In fact, the playing field is just an easy minute’s stroll from the house.

This makes for a smooth day of tuition. Within a few minutes of finishing chukkas on a warm afternoon you can be sitting on the veranda relaxing over a cool drink and talking polo.

This is all part of my holistic approach to polo.

It’s not only about better technique, it’s about playing smarter.

Make no mistake. Even over a few wines, there is plenty to learn about polo. A convivial evening meal with a few New Zealand wines, or a relaxing drink on the veranda are actually great environments to talk about polo, and how to play better.

The house was purpose-built with accommodating polo students in mind. There is self-contained guest accommodation. Bedrooms not in the self contained unit are well serviced with bathrooms and there are several lounge areas, allowing visitors some quiet space where they may wish to enjoy book or simply take time out.

The whole polo school complex has been many years in development. I’m adamant that playing surfaces must be top notch for both horses and riders, so it was little surprise to my friends that I invested so much time, energy, and money into producing a quality playing field.

The stabling areas have been constantly developed over the years.

There is a schooling arena for riding instruction, and a hitting cage (complete with Tim the wooden horse) for those wanting to work on their technique.

Only a few minutes from the school is Woodend beach. When the tide is low, it’s a fantastic place to take the horses for stick and balling on the wide expanse of sand.
